Warn?s New VR Line of Winches

Article written by Moab Man

Date Added: 05/09/2011

We don?t know if it?s the economy, or someone got a hold of Warn?s pricing gun; but either way they caused quite a buzz this year at Easter Jeep Safari!

A number of years ago MOABJEEPER Magazine did a head-to-head comparison of winches from every major, and not so major, player in the winch industry. One of the most notable points of this testing was that a generic $400 throw away winch not only finished the test, but placed third.

These cheap winches have been available for years, but if you wanted a premium name, you?ve always had to pay a premium price? until now. Whatever outside force it was that brought favor upon the off-road industry; we all must give a hardy thank you. Warn has delivered to market their new line of VR (Vehicle Recovery) winches starting out at $399 after an $80 mail in rebate from through Warn.com.

This new line of Warn VR winches are available in 8000, 10,000, & 12,000 lb capacities. Shown here: 8000lb

As expected, the question we were hearing most is ?what am I giving up??

We can definitively tell you ? not a single thing. This line of winches proudly wears the ?W? badge and carries with it the 1 year electrical and limited lifetime mechanical warranty.

However, you?re probably still thinking there has to be a catch, and maybe there is. But in our opinion, Warn pulled off this pricing magic by upgrading the electrical switching mechanisms in their premium line thus leaving the traditional tried-and-true solenoids to the VR line.

Final Thoughts

Even on a cloudy day the sun sometimes shines. Today, Warn is that sunshine offering a premium winch at a throw away price.

Our Thank You's!

Thank you for reading MOABJEEPER Magazine.
