Flexible Socket Holder, 3/8 Red

Article written by Moab Man

Date Added: 04/19/2009

Sometimes the best ideas are oh-so-simple, and that is what OffRoadTrailTools.com specializes in. Great ideas kept simple!

No one (at least no one who knows what they?re doing) heads out on to the trail without tools, and sockets are standard fare. Like most, your sockets probably reside temporarily on a metal rack. You know the one we?re talking about; the rack with little metal clips that attach the sockets to a flimsy rail. And if you use them like we do, you know a short trip down the trail easily knocks all the sockets off the rack and into the bottom of the tool bag.

While we love to practice futile things, like putting all our sockets back on the racks, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to try out OffRoadTrailTools.com 3/8" Flexible Socket Holder.

First, we want to tell you they are flexible and will twist, roll, bend, or whatever you need it to do so that the rack fits in your tool bag. This flexibility is the first part of why we love our 3/8" Flexible Socket Holder. When other tools bang into the sockets they get knocked off of the rack. Instead, this flexible rack just goes with the flow allowing the sockets to stay firmly attached.

Each rack, 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" drive, has 14 nubs which will hold most sets of sockets. These nubs, in combination with the urethane material its made from, is the other reason why we swear by this product. Lets break it down.

1. There is a "rib" encircling the end of each nub. It makes for a very tight fit when initially pressing the socket on. Once the socket is on the nub this rib fills the pocket just inside of the socket keeping it firmly in place.

2. The urethane material isn't affected by chemicals, is incredibly durable against tearing or cutting, and has outstanding wear properties to provide a long life of holding sockets securely in place.

While we are slowly heading towards summer, in spite of what the thermometer says, we couldn't resist throwing our Flexible Socket Holder into the freezer for an hour. A quick check of the thermometer and we confirmed they remained flexible all the way down to our freezer temperature of 7.3° Fahrenheit.

Final Thoughts

If you carry sockets on the trail, this is a must have. And the price can't be beat even if you're an admitted tightwad: $4.99 - 1/4", $5.99 - 3/8", and $6.99 - 1/2".

Here is a tip for putting the sockets on... moisten the nub, and the sockets go on much easier.

To Purchase
Flexible Socket Holders can be purchased in either black or red.
