2006 Year In Review

Article written by MoabJeeper Staff

Date Added: 12/18/2006

Here it is, another year under the belt of MoabJeeper Magazine. As we have in years past, we?ll take a look at some of the highlights of the year.

Lets count them down.
10. We finally got a logo! Yes, sadly we operated for a couple years without actually having a real logo. Now if we could only get our marketing people to get off their butts and get some stickers cut...
9. Released a picture of, with confirmation, the new tread pattern for the time tested and proved BFG Mud Terrain.
8. News broke here on the new OX Locker electric actuator.
7. For too long Utah, home of MOAB, has been without its own major off-road show. Advanstar was kind enough to step up and right this wrong with the 2006 Off-Road Expo. We look forward to 2007.
6. For a repeat appearance, MJ traveled to Lander Wyoming for another great grassroots show. What this show lacks in big name appearances, it more than makes up for in hospitality. Were not really sure what a Kiwanis is, but we do know they make a great pancake breakfast. Once you finished breakfast, the local brewers got involved with their own little brewfest. The local wheelers provided designated drivers. Could you ask for a more all-inclusive wheeling package?
5. Our constant search for wheeling events back east led us to the ?CAOS at Gray Road? event in central Alabama. The kind folks showed us a good time, great wheeling, and some excellent food.
4. MJ makes its first visit to Tellico, and we can say it was good.
3. The new MoabJeeper Magazine website! Only ranked #3 on our countdown? The new site has been spectacular and given us capabilities that many of our competitors lack. A lack of shiny duds never stopped us from being reputable and putting our readers interests first. We must say thank you to Larry Davis. He is the genius behind the beautiful new site.
2. Jeep releases the new 2007 Wrangler (JK). Of course we have our gripes, as we do anytime Jeep starts tinkering. Thankfully the JK has not been tamed, and it retained its solid front axle. Capability? It?s already starting to prove its metal on the trail.
1. Most important, Easter Jeep Safari! Sure there were a lot of complaints: too busy, overloaded, crowded, trail restrictions, and you can fill in your own complaint. We can?t deny any of them, but there is still no other experience like the safari. Red Rock 4 Wheelers continues to put on a well organized event for the generations, literally. So if you haven?t attended, put it on your list of MUST DO?s! No other place can your vehicle climb verticals walls and seemingly do the impossible.
So what?s coming up for 2007?

We?re excited, so we?ll just spill it. During Easter Jeep Safari 2007, MoabJeeper Magazine will do the most comprehensive winch testing ever. That?s right; with every major winch manufacturer represented in the 9000 ? 9500 lb class, we will run the entire Hells Revenge trail in Moab by winch. Each winch will be tested against its own specifications and the others in its class. We will load test each winch to see exactly what kind of loads and stresses they are enduring. And finally, after a lot of number crunching, figure out what the cold facts are behind the marketing.

In conjunction with the winch testing, we will put some Redneck Concepts winch line through hell. Most people, on the average, will only use their winch and winch line 2-3 times in a year. By running the Hells revenge trail by winch, we will put six ropes through the equivalent of well over ten years worth of pulls. It should be interesting to see how this bargain rope holds up.
2007 Easter Jeep Safari will be the testing grounds for our new OX Locker Super 44. Knowing both Superior Axle and OX Locker?s strength and quality, we expect this to be pretty uneventful testing.
Barney, after a year of recovery, will have all new stuff to try out. Most interesting will be the Lexan hood and new flat fenders.
Of course, we will also head to Lander Wyoming, and all points unknown, to wheel with many new friends to be.

Final Thoughts

There it is, another year in review. We would like to thank all of you, our readers, for another year of patronage. To those that are new readers of MoabJeeper Magazine, I hope we are meeting your needs and providing you with the truth behind the hype in regards to the products on the market.

With that said, and this being our last update of the year, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (yes we said Merry Christmas) and a Happy New Year.

See you in 2007 with our January 6th update.
