CAOS at Gray Rock

Article written by Adventure Bob

The CAOS Fall For All; MoabJeeper Magazine finds another great wheeling event!

The CAOS Fall for All was spearheaded by Brent and Jonika Williams, President and Treasurer respectively of the Central Alabama Offroad Society. They're married, but no they weren?t related before they wed. (Sorry I couldn't resist an Alabama joke.)

The event took place over the weekend of October 20-22 at the Gray Rock ORV Park located just north of Birmingham. The beauty of this event is the large number of difficult trails all within a few miles of where you park your tow rig.

As we explored the Gray Rock ORV Park, we found tons of short extreme courses. The park is littered with both natural and owner created chutes and ravines. This one, known as Sense of Humor, was made from the rocks of an older trail that was closed down.
This event is perfect for families. Wheelers of all ages could be seen hanging out, wheeling, running through camp, or just catching some zzzzzs after a hard day.
At any event with over 500 rigs worth of drivers and passengers, you gotta have some great food. Boy did CAOS represent! Everywhere you turned, there was smoked or barbequed food with all the fixings. Two thumbs up to the cooks.
Who the heck is this guy? Over the three days, all of us Jeeps made a good showing no matter the difficulty? That is until the Turtle got hijacked and stuck. We think the buggie guys put him up to it.
A real crowd pleaser was when the BIG BOYS came out to play on Cable Hill. Requirements? A serious machine with a big motor, lots of power, tires you're willing to light up, and your sanity checked back at the gate to the park. If you don?t fill all these requirements, don't even think about attempting this 45° slippery chute.
Here are a few of the sponsors we would like to mention.
Warn
Detroit
Eaton
Lincoln Electric
Edelbrock
Miller

Final Thoughts

We had a great time and experienced yet another awesome place to wheel. We met some of the coolest people and made some life-long friends

Our Thank You's!

We'd like to thank Brent, Jonica and everyone at CAOS for the hospitality they showed us. We enjoyed it very much!
